Dear Candidate

Thank you for your interest in joining us here at St Helens Borough Council.

Our Council serves two proud major towns - St Helens and Newton-le-Willows - and historic communities including Haydock, Rainford, Sutton and Rainhill. We are privileged to serve our residents and we want them to be at the heart of everything we do.

Like all local authorities, we have had to respond and adapt to a reduction in funding and resources, but this has created opportunities to do things differently and to innovate. We are on an important journey to improve our Children's Social Care Services and have embarked on an exciting whole organisation modernisation programme – it is a really exciting time to join us! We have huge potential, and the passion and commitment to deliver.

You will be working with a new Executive Leadership team, a recently restructured senior leadership team and high quality, loyal and dedicated staff. We have energetic political leadership which is determined to get things done and as a place, we have real ambition, a range of exciting regeneration and growth schemes and are also well positioned geographically between Liverpool and Manchester. We have an innovative and unique health and social care partnership - St Helens Cares and we have a whole council modernisation programme, as part of our reset plans, within a joined up 'One Council' approach, which we want all staff to have a role in developing and implementing. As a member of the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority we can, and do, influence policy across a wider area that will benefit St Helens and bring forward exciting changes that can make the Northern Powerhouse really mean something.

Thank you again for your interest, and we look forward to hearing from you – this is a great place to be!

Yours sincerely

Kath O’Dwyer
Chief Executive, St Helens Borough Council
